Hi!

I'm

Shereein Saraf

An economist in the making, interested in questions related to development economics and political economy.

What if ?

The nature of economics is such that when modelled as science looks academically viable, but limits our perception to an environment constrained by 'perfect' assumptions.

Seldom it does account for socio-political and psychological factors. That is when economics as a social science comes into play, provide us with a better way to look at the world.

Economics

Depending upon the question posed, this page intends to put forward the imperfections (and perfections) of economic theories using an analytical or a philosophical structure.

It answers the what-if(s) of modern-day economic theories, using ideas of development and behavioural economics, to name a few, accommodating for such deviations.

Purpose

Being from a developing country and experiencing diverse phenomena beyond the scope of conventional economic theories makes me sometimes question but mostly adopt them to the quest of revelations about development evidence.

Research

What 'if' Economics, thus, is a means to convey my thoughts, opinions and research inquisitiveness in the fields of, but not limited to, development economics and political economy. All of your comments, criticisms and feedbacks are valued.
